Sesame Street Live

Joel and I took Tyson and Charlie to Sesame Street Live last night in Topeka. The show was "Elmo Makes Music" and Tyson and Charlie were both fascinated by it. It was so much fun to see Tyson's face light up when they opened the curtain. And to our surprise Charlie couldn't take his eyes off it. During the entire 15 minute intermission Tyson was yelling "Open the curtain!" He could not wait for it to start again.

As with everything we try to do there was a little drama on the way in. Protesters at a children's show! Absolutely amazing to me and of course Joel had to take a picture of it.

And the Real Fun Begins

Here are some pictures of Tyson and Charlie on Halloween in costume. As all you moms know it is virtually impossible to get both kids looking at the camera at the same time. But I do think I was successful a couple times. Tyson is Dash from the Incredibles and Charlie is a scarecrow. He hated the hat so there are very few pictures of him with it on and there is no way we could take time to tie it or we would have missed out on our opportunity to get a picture with him wearing it. And I am not sure why when Tyson puts on his mask his eyes won't open all the way, but we made him wear it anyway. We have to make sacrifices to look cute, right?

Tyson did enjoy getting candy this year, but he enjoyed handing it out even more. He was so excited when kids would start to come to our house. He would meet them in the driveway with the candy, grab a huge handful, try to get it in their bag but half would land on the ground, and then yell, "Happy Halloween!" It was our best Halloween ever!

Notice the skull on Charlie's lap!

Decorating And Cookies

Next the agenda was to decorate. Joel had bought a bunch of Halloween decorations so him and Tyson decorated the front yard with skeletons, mice, and spiders. All the trick-or-treaters really loved the decorations. Many people said, "If they do this much for Halloween I wonder what they do at Christmas!" The pressure is on now. I am not sure who enjoyed this more Joel or Tyson.
After Joel went to work, Tyson and I decorated sugar cookies. He loved this so much at Christmas I wondered why we only do it once a year. So we decorated ghosts, pumpkins, and bats. I think this will be something we do every holiday now because he really enjoys it. Luckily, Charlie took a good nap so he didn't have to help too.

Carving Pumpkins

We started Halloween day carving pumpkins. Tyson helped clean out the pumpkins and then drew the faces for Joel to carve out. As you can see Charlie helped out by eating the newspaper that was keeping my floor clean. Tyson really enjoyed this for the first time ever. It was a lot of fun for the whole family!
